Description

Long long long overdue art trade with the wonderfully talented =Amadoodles

This is her character Shwish! I LOVE THIS CHARACTER. But Shwish probably really hates me because I cannot blend her blue markings properly at all >:I Terrible scan does not help either, you can't see ANY of the purple....

I'm really satisfied with this painting, especially with how the background and Shwish's shading turned out. I hope you like it Ama and sorry it took such a long time!!!

I'm not sure what the meaning of this painting is... but it was really affected by Shwish's backstory. About her being extremely jealous of animals that can fly and how hypertastically crazy she is all the time :D Meaning is free to your interpretation I guess....

on a more unrelated note, last submission till i turn 14! yay!!!
Materials: Watercolors, Unipin fineliners, salt, color pencils, ballpen, Staedler fineline pens, blue & white gel pen

What a wonderful image. The circular direction of the creature, becoming the birds, then back through the tail, really draws the eye through this. The brush strokes at the edge add some fantastic energy to this. The technique of leaving a bit of white between the character and the background is a good idea, I just wish it had been echoed if not in whole, at least in part on the birds. A little bit of that white left on some spots around the wings would create even more energy, along with a sensation of flight.

The anatomy of the creature is wonderful, the only part I do not understand is the hands/fore paws. Their construction as to what kind of appendage they are (hands? paws?) is not apparently, so it is not clear how they should react when touching the ground, but I feel if just one fore leg appeared to bear the weight of the creature it would add a sense of place to the piece because it would show the creature actively interacting with its background.

Your color palate and technique is fantastic. The only thing I would suggest is maybe not making the background colors as brilliant as the creature. It would allow the creature to pop forward even more.

Overall, excellent work. Your painting technique is truly amazing.
